Welcome to Season 3, where we cover two Martha Jeffersons. Martha "Patty" Wayles Skelton Jefferson was Thomas Jefferson's wife, but she died before he became President. Martha "Patsy" Jefferson Randolph was Thomas Jefferson's eldest daughter, who occasionally served as his hostess at the President's House in Washington City.
Here are links to the books I read for this season.
Martha Jefferson Randolph: Daughter of Monticello by Cynthia Kierner
This was my most valuable source. Well-researched (although there was one pretty significant error that I call out in episode 3.4) and well-written. Definitely recommend if you want even more details on the younger Martha Jefferson.
Martha Jefferson: An Intimate Life with Thomas Jefferson by William Hyland Jr.
This book was riddled with errors and inconsistencies. Even within the pages of the book, he couldn't get his facts straight. Wouldn't recommend it, but it's practically the only book out there about the elder Martha Jefferson.
The Paris Years of Thomas Jefferson by William Howard Adams
This book was just okay. It was strangely organized (by theme rather than chronologically) so it was hard to follow. I only quoted from it once or twice.
